Comes from the homemade recipe of Harriett Schmidt. In 1982, Harriett and her husband David, purchased the Weathervane Restaurant in Readfield, Maine. During their 16 year ownership they became well known for their homemade pies, soups, chowders and stews. The lobster stew was always a customer favorite.

Since they received such great reviews to the stew while at the restaurant, they decided to market the lobster stew nation wide and in 1999 formed Hatties.
